Product Development Philosophy

With many products there is usually a void between “what is being done” and “what could be done”. This void is very apparent in the utility knife industry. “What is being done” in this industry has been bothersome from the inception of the utility knife. The vast majority of all utility knives still require the very slow and unsafe procedure of changing blades with your bare hands.

Therefore, visualizing “what could be done” was easy. However, the development process for a utility knife that could change a used blade for a new blade in less than 1 ½ seconds without ever touching a blade, was a major challenge.

The development of extraordinary technology often presents an array of very unique and lucrative marketing opportunities.
